Abstract

This study examines the degree of the student's engagement in the books of science for the first and second years of intermediate stage in Iraq.  The sample of the study is two books of science for the first and second intermediate classes. Each book consists of two parts.  The tool of the study is developed to answer the question of the research. The study, furthermore, uses the descriptive statistic for data analysis. The study concludes that the degree of engagement is high among the students of first class and low among the students of the second class.  This is engendered by the use of pictures and figures in the first class and the less use of such tools in the second class. Evaluating Elements of the curriculum is an important element in the educational process. Its contents are evaluated by educational institutions in order to confirm their validity, and identify its weak points.  Such review and usual evaluation help us to cope with technological progress (Ibn Salamah, 2005). The method of associating the book is measured through the use of  the Rumi method. The coefficient of the book is calculated by means of the book's forms, fees and educational material, and the associative coefficients are measured by Rumi equations (Fajiba, 2005).
