The level of persuasive writing among the students of Arabic Language Department at Anbar University

Abstract

The study aim at identifying the level of persuasive writing among the students of Arabic language department at Anbar university.The researchers prepared a list of the skills of persuasive writing to be available in the research sample. The first form consisted of three main skills and twelve sub-skills, and then it presented to a group of arbitrators. Three main skills and ten sub-skills were chosen. Essay persuasive writing test was formed and presented to a group of arbitrators to verify its validity, then it was applied to the survey sample of (100) students to calculate the coefficient of stability. They were re-tested again after 15 days by using Pearson correlation coefficient. The results show that the coefficient of stability was (0, 81), and then it was applied to the main sample of the research which consisted of 93 students.


The researchers reached a number of conclusions:



  1. The ability to limitation and categorize the persuasive writing skills required for undergraduate students.

  2. The weakness of the level of students of the second stage of the Department of Arabic language in persuasive writing skills.


    From the findings of the research, a number of recommendations and proposals were presented
