The Marital structure in Maysan Governorate (1987-2012)

Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the marital structure in the province of Maysan, according to four categories (married and unmarried and divorced and widowed) and highlight the geographical variation, and then seeks to be understood and interpreted, depending on census of 1987 and 1997, They are marked to uncertainty and attributed to the economic and social conditions of the community, in addition to the traditions and customs prevailing in this society. The study revealed some important facts and spatial variation among the administrative units in the province of Maysan, the proportion of singles makes up a large percentage, as well as the rise in marriage rate, in addition to the decline in the divorce rate for males, and the high divorce rate for females, the proportion of divorced in the countryside of the province decreases.
