The Egyptian role in the internationalization of the Algerian case 1954-1962

Abstract

          This research includes a historical follow-up to the Egyptian diplomatic support for the Algerian issue during the period 1954-1962 through the Afro-Asian Conferences, the United Nations and the League of Arab States. The Egyptian position supporting the Algerian revolution was not limited to military and material support, In the Egyptian position supporting the Algerian issue at the Afro-Asian conferences, the meetings of the Arab League and the United Nations, and Egypt started from the early days of the Algerian revolution to support it. The Voice of the Arabs in Cairo introduced the revolution and encouraged the Algerian militants Yen to continue the revolution, and the creation of world public opinion to support the Algerian issue and stand against the French colonial policy and its criminal in Algeria.


   The Egyptian position in support of the Algerian issue reflected the important fact that the influence of Egypt was clear on the Arab countries and many Afro-Asian countries, whether in international conferences or in the UN or the League of Arab States. The speeches of the Egyptian delegations were characterized by force and direct conversation with the French authorities, These speeches bear the clear connotation of linking the diplomatic struggle with the Algerian reality, and based on the legal and historical evidence that affirms the right of the Algerian people to their independence and self-determination in order to give the Algerian revolution legal and legal status.


Egyptian diplomatic support for the Algerian issue - the subject of our study - coincided with the years of the Algerian revolution 1954-1962, as the Algerian issue was one of the most important issues that were included on the agendas of the Egyptian delegations locally, regionally and internationally, which in turn led to making this issue a global event. The efforts of Egypt in these conferences were essential to the continuation of the armed struggle towards the independence of Algeria. This Egyptian diplomatic effort had a clear positive impact on the Algerian issue and the acceleration of the French-Algerian negotiations, which led to the result of The arrival of the Algerian people for their legitimate right to self-determination and the final release of the French guardianship.
