The foundations of Christian monasticism and the attitude of Islam from it - comparative study

Abstract

     We displaying in this research the foundations and principles which Christians believe that the monasticism they have built upon. These foundations are: (Celibacy, Isolation, Abstraction or Optional poverty and Obedience). They claim that these foundations are derived from life and sayings of Jesus (peace be upon him), and also from some of the Bible figures. They infer on them by paragraphs from the Bible to prove what they claim. Then we stated the attitude of Islam from these Christian foundations  and we cited by verses of the Holy Quran and Sunnah of the prophet. This research has included three topics: In the first topic, we mentioned the definition of monasticism, in language and terminology. In the second topic, we stated the foundations of Christian monasticism. The third topic, we stated the attitude of Islam from these foundations
