The Effectiveness of a Counseling Program in Enhancing Students' Citizen Ship's Behavior at The College of Education for Humanities / University of Mosul
Abstract
The present research investigates the effectiveness of a counseling Program The Effectiveness of a Counseling Program in Enhancing Students' Citizen Ship's Behavior at The College of Education for Humanities. The sample includes 24 male and female students from the Department of Geography, who need much care in their citizenship believes concerning their scores on a citizenship behavior scale . Their marks were considered as a pre-test . Then, the sample distributed randomly among two groups . Students in the first group (experimental) were trained on a counseling program through counseling group. The program includes 10 counseling meetings. Students at the second group (control) were not trained to that program. To fulfill the researches’ aim and test its hypotheses , the researcher constructed a scale for citizen behavior. This scale comprised (50) items in its final version represented by validity , reliability , and discriminability. Then , after applying the scale (per-and post) upon the subjects and analyzing data statistically by using Wellkoksen and ManWittny tests, and at 0.05 level of significance the findings were as follow :
- There is a significant statistical difference between the mean scores of pre- and posttests for the experimental group and for the benefits of post test .
- There is a significant statistical difference between the mean ranks of enhancing citizen behavior for the subjects in the experimental and control groups for the benefits of experimental group.
- There is no significant statistical difference between the mean ranks of male and female students. In the light of the findings , number of recommendations and suggestions have been set.
