Abstract

Since a long period of time our country is familiar with the phenomenon of street children—a phenomenon which includes children's labor, homeless children, and beggars. Recently, Iraq is more familiar with that phenomenon due to the deteriorating of economic situation as well as the displacement of many families as a result of the US occupation and ISIS war.  By interviewing the children and finding out their problems,  the following research highlights the reasons that lead children to work and thus determine their negative effects particularly upon children themselves and generally upon society. It was found that the most important reasons behind children's work are the economic side of the city, the loss of the father due to wars, and the deterioration of the security situation. As for their geographical distribution, it is clear that the vast majority are outside Ramadi and thus children's work has negative effects in terms of deprivation of education, health and childhood.
