Smart Cities and Their Applicability to Iraq: Basmaya as a Model

Abstract

The concept of a smart city is different, but the most likely concept is "digital city, or ecological, whose services rely on ICT infrastructure such as automatic managed traffic systems, advanced security management services, building management systems, and office and home exchange invoices and reports automatically.


The city is smart when it invests in human and social capital and energy infrastructure "electricity, gas", and depends on the sustainable economic development and high quality of life of citizens with management of natural resources.


Also, it is able to implement the management of the infrastructure "water, energy, information and communications, transportation, emergency services, utilities, buildings, waste management and sorting, etc. it uses wireless sensor network to process information and transfer data at the same time to  citizens or authorities concerned.


The second topic dealt with is the challenges facing the application of smart cities to the cities of Iraq and the ways in which decision-makers should include  smart cities in their plans. The Final topic is to take the road to sustainable smart cities in Iraq, Basmaya compound as a model).
