The Effect of Midwifery in the Social Life of Iraq 1917-1939

Abstract

    In this study the researcher reviewed the midwives and their social impact in Iraq, where the backwardness, ignorance and sorcery that  prevailed in Iraqi society, Especially in midwifery and obstetrics, which relied on midwifery women without having sufficient experience practicing the profession, As the development of health of midwifery entered with the entry of the British occupation forces to Iraq after the first world war and bring nurses who know practice the art of nursing and midwifery. Besides the adoption of scientific methods to develop the Iraqi midwives and training them in special schools to develop their level compatible with the elements of developed modern health, mother and child care and depends on human resources that have been trained under international supervision.
